Ministers meet at Barritskov

The Danish minister for the Environment, Ida Auken and the Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Building, Martin Lidegaard invited their ministerial colleagues in Europe to an informal meeting in Horsens, Denmark in April 2012. The agenda for the meeting was a greener Europe to help resolve the financial crisis. The ministers discussed a design for Europe's environmental policy for the next decade and the Energy Efficiency Directive. The meeting also lead to a site visit at Aarstiderne.com in Barritskov where the LoCaRe site visited was held just about a year ago. Read more on the homepage: Danish ministry of the environment

POWER is a 5.8 million Euros programme funded through INTERREG IVC between September 2008 and March 2012. Over the course of three years the seven partner regions funded nine subprojects delivering results on the five POWER themes: Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Sustainable transport, Behaviour change, Eco-Innovation and Environmental technologies. The POWER website has now been overhauled and contains the results of these 9 funded sub projects. Each sub project page describes the partnership involved, the specification for actions, and the methodology for achieving results. The 65 Best Practices are described in detail.
What is the LoCaRe project all about?

Six European regions have joined forces in a common intiative to reduce CO2 emissions locally and regionally. The objective is to benchmark, develop and implement low carbon solutions for sustainable growth. But how? A new folder explains the LoCaRe project in a easy way, from objective and strategy to focus, sub-theme and projects.
Six Low Carbon Sub-projects approved
December 2010
After its Call for proposals LoCaRe has received 14 proposals for Sub-projects from a wide range of applicants from local authorities, universities, development agencies and chambers of commerce from the six partner regions of LoCaRe. Six Sub-projects have been approved under conditions for a total amount of around € 2 m.

LoCaRe Call for proposals for Sub-projects 2010 – CLOSED!
June 2010
LoCaRe - The Low Carbon Economy Regions – launched a Call for proposals for Sub-projects that closed on 1st October 2010. The sub-projects should focus on the exchange of experiences and contribute to improving regional/local policies or instruments within the Sub-themes (see terms of Reference for Sub-themes). The call was open for local authorities and bodies governed by public law in the LoCaRe Partner Regions.

The LoCaRe project was kicked-off on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th April in Gothenburg, Sweden. The participants were faced with the interesting question of theatre vs. trousers: What to choose from an environmental perspective.

Commission Awards Sustainable Energy Prizes...
April 2010
The winners of the Sustainable Energy Europe Awards 2010 were announced on 23 March 2010 at the Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels. ProjectZero a public/private initiative in The Region of Southern Denmark were among the five winners.
